Cape Town (South Africa) – Road runners have been given an added incentive to put in the extra training with the announcement of a R200 000.00 prize purse for the 2017 edition of the Cape’s most loved 12km road race, the FNB Cape Town 12 ONERUN.

“We are excited to announce the prize purse for the 2017 FNB Cape Town 12 ONERUN,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports.  “South Africa boasts a large number of talented road runners both in the men’s and women’s field.   Watching these athletes in action is an awe-inspiring experience.  With the support of our valued sponsors we are proud to be able to reward these athletes for all the hard work, sweat and tears that go into maintaining this level of racing.”

“This year prize money has been allocated to the top 10 finishers in the open men’s and women’s category,” continues Meyer.  “The winners will each take home a whopping R25 000.  The runner up will take home R13 000, with third place finishers securing R10 000.  The top three finishers in the Junior; 40-49 and 50-59 age categories and the top two finishers in the 60 – 69 and 70+ categories will also be awarded prize money.  Although we look forward to watching the elites in action, we also hope to attract a large field of every day runners who believe that they just might have what it takes to qualify for their portion of the prize purse.”
