But: If there’s one thing we want to stress, it’s get there early – whether you’re going directly to the start in Milnerton or catching the MyCiTi bus from Cape Town.
Michael is an Ironman and was a hotshot runner in his youth – he boasts a PB of 30:03 for a 10k! He’s extremely passionate about lifestyle sports events, particularly athletics, mountain biking and triathlon. He has managed and coached some of SA’s best track and field athletes and was fortunate to be a part of multiple Olympic Games, World Athletics Championships, the major city marathons, as well as some of the world’s leading endurance events. His favourite athletes remain Lasse Viren, the four time Olympic gold medalist from Finland, and Carl Lewis. Michael inherently believes it’s not how far you run, but how fast you run the distance.
Dezroy’s passion and energy for eventing knows no limits. He understands the balance between the participant experience and putting on a well-managed, safe event. He has been involved in all levels of South African sport, including serving as a Development Officer of the International Triathlon Union. His sense of humour provides the team with many moments of laughter. An ardent football fan and player, he secretly wishes he played for Manchester United.
Agne’s an Ironman – enough said. Well she’s also an Ironwoman with three children, so keeping the team in check is a piece of cake. Her background is in corporate event management so she brings a wealth of knowledge to the team. Her easy-going manner is the calming force when things get crazy and when that doesn’t work, she brings the wooden spoon.
Jacky loves the outdoors and is a passionate sports fan. She’s worked in the experiential events industry for over 10 years, both on the national and international scene. She has now taken on the challenge of the Cape Town 12 ONERUN!
Show me the money! Clint is the money man who thinks he would be great in a Tom Cruise movie. He manages all Stillwater’s financial affairs and his positive approach to problems allows him to provide alternative solutions for seemingly daunting tasks.
Lauren, aka Social Media Queen and Her Royal Highness, has established herself as a digital media expert and manages Stillwater Sports’ extensive digital content calendar. She runs the social media as if she was running Britain, she really is HRH. Lauren tries her best to make sure we all look cool – it’s a tough job but someone’s got to do it!
Jacky is passionate about media coverage…about monitoring it and about getting it! Her ability to generate PR around our many events is legendary and is what ensures Cape Town 12 receives all the additional coverage it deserves. Jacky’s secret stash of treats has saved many a team member in desperate times.
Amanda is the sergeant major of the team and keeps us in check. Together with Gerold, she makes sure the event venues look awesome. She works closely with sponsors to ensure all event branding and vehicles reach on the event destination on time, and that they are all returned safely. She’s in charge of our production department making sure all items are ordered and delivered on time.
Gerold works his magic to make fields or streets come alive with branding and colour. Gerold and his team are responsible for ‘dressing’ our venues with our clients’ branding. On off days Gerold is either being the world’s greatest dad or watching the latest sci-fi series.
Danélle manages the entries office not only for Cape Town 12, but for all Stillwater events. This is a huge responsibility which she is perfectly suited for due to her excellent organisational skills. Nicknamed Waltons, she’s a walking stationery shop and ensures the entries office is always running at maximum efficiency.
Phindi is Danélle’s right hand woman and she’s not called Olivia Pope aka The Fixer for nothing. If you’ve emailed or called the Cape Town 12 office, chances are you’ve dealt with her. She’s a Durbanite coming to terms with living in Cape Town, who would rather run to McDonalds than actually run…but that will change.
Sarah makes sure all our invited athletes are treated like the rockstars they are. She manages all their accommodation and travel arrangements, plus makes sure they receive their prize money and incentives. She also manages the PUMA sponsored athletes while her day job is event manager for the XTERRA South Africa series.
Together with his trusty colleague Josh Rowe, Brett manages the film crew to capture the event. His outstanding work includes producing highlights videos for YouTube and other social media as well as a monthly show for Super Sport. Brett’s interests range from film to surfing to trail running, with anything water-related being his happy place.
The FNB Cape Town 12 ONERUN will take place on in May 2018.
