We provide some security guards that patrol the roads closest to the Grand Parade, the Start and the Finish, but it is impossible for them to be everywhere all at once. Please make sure you do not park on yellow lines, in front of private driveways and abide by all traffic regulations. Runners park at their own risk and the FNB Cape Town 12 ONERUN and Stillwater Sports will not be held responsible for any traffic offences or stolen valuables. Events are recording a high number of break ins and a race of this size will draw attention so it’s not a good idea to advertise your valuables by packing your boot with wallets, handbags, tog bags and clothing in full view of other participants and members of the public when you arrive. We recommend that you pack the things you’ll need after the race in your boot, before leaving your home, and that you drive to the event in your race attire

You can find your own way to the start with friends/family and get dropped off in Milnerton. From the city, you can catch the buses from the Grand Parade to the start in Milnerton. They will leave the Grand Parade from 05h30 onwards, with the last bus leaving at 08h15. Make sure you get there early. Miss the bus, you miss out!

There will be tog bag trucks at the start in Milnerton so you can take something warm with you to wear while you wait then put it in the truck before the start. Your bag will be waiting for you at the finish in Bree Street. Follow the signs to the tog bag trucks.

We recommend that you don’t run with music for the following reasons:

  • You won’t be able to soak up the atmosphere of the race.
  • You won’t hear the commentators or announcements at the start.
  • There is traffic on the road that you are running on and you won’t hear it.
  • We have 24 vibe points with music and live bands along the route and you will miss out.
  • Sometimes marshals or referees will need to direct you and you won’t be able to hear them.

This is a gun to finish line race so your official time is recorded from when the gun goes off at the start, to when you cross the finish line. However, we will have a mat at the start and your time as you cross the start line will also be recorded. You will therefore receive two times for the run and the second one will be the same as the one recorded on your watch.

These will be posted to the website www.thecapetown12.com on race day.
